www.magentocommerce.com has be getting an increased amount of traffic over time.
This week we noticed a spike in the number of users connected at the same time. This does not account of all other other worldwide visitors that are not logged it.
Typically the number of visitor currently logged it would reach 1200 by mid-day in the US. Today it is 4:30am Eastern Time and the site a few moments ago was already showing 1800+ visited connected simultaneously. This is about three times as much as we typically see on magentocommerce.com around this time.
You can guess what happened! Their site is down. Magentocommerce.com is no longer able to load pages. Haven’t the guys at Varien learned anything? They design such a beautiful and powerful ecommerce platform but their own site cannot even keep up with their own traffic.
What does it tell you about Magento? Are they trying to grow while not really being prepared for growth? But aren’t they always talking about Magento as a platform for growth? I’d like to hear what they have to say about today’s downtime.
I hope they can get started scaling their own server infrastructure and learn from it.

It looks like the magentocommerce.com admin just did a server reboot.. but just a few minutes later the traffic is already up to 1499 online users from 1200…
Let see if the server will keep up this time. Already it is getting slow…
